How Your Anger Is Affecting Your Health

How Your Anger Is Affecting Your Health

In the complex relationship between your mind, body, and spirit, emotions significantly influence your physical health. Among these emotions, anger is particularly powerful. Various experts, including Dr. Masaru Emoto, Dr. Gabor Maté, Evette Rose, and practitioners of traditional Chinese medicine, provide valuable insights into how anger can manifest as physical illness.

Dr. Masaru Emoto’s work with water crystals shows how emotions can impact your physical state. He found that water exposed to positive words like “love” and “gratitude” formed beautiful crystals, while water exposed to negative words like “hate” and “anger” formed chaotic structures. Since our bodies are about 60% water, his findings suggest that emotions like anger can disrupt our physical harmony and potentially lead to illness.

Dr. Gabor Maté, a well-known physician and author, explores the link between emotional stress and physical illness. He argues that repressed emotions, especially anger, can lead to chronic stress, which weakens the immune system and fosters disease. According to Maté, people who suppress their anger often develop autoimmune diseases, cancer, and other chronic conditions. He emphasizes the importance of recognizing and healthily expressing your emotions to prevent them from causing physical harm.

Evette Rose, in her book “Metaphysical Anatomy,” examines the emotional and psychological causes behind various physical ailments. She believes that unresolved emotional trauma, including anger, is stored in the body and can lead to disease. For example, liver issues are often linked to unresolved anger and frustration. By identifying and healing these underlying emotional causes, you can achieve significant physical healing.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) also highlights the connection between emotions and physical health. In TCM, the liver is closely associated with anger. When anger isn’t expressed or resolved, it can stagnate in the liver, leading to symptoms like headaches, high blood pressure, and digestive issues. TCM practitioners use methods like acupuncture, herbal medicine, and qigong to help the body process and release stored anger, maintaining physical health by addressing emotional imbalances.

These insights from Dr. Emoto’s water experiments, Dr. Maté’s stress-illness connection, Evette Rose’s metaphysical anatomy, and traditional Chinese medicine collectively show how anger can impact your physical health. By recognizing and addressing your anger, you can promote harmony within your body and enhance your overall well-being.

In our mind-body-spirit community, it’s vital to adopt practices that help process and release anger. This can include mindfulness meditation, expressive arts, physical exercise, and therapies like acupuncture or counseling. By integrating these practices, you honor the deep connection between your emotions and physical health, paving the way for a more balanced and harmonious life.

In my experience working with people from various backgrounds, I’ve seen that unresolved emotional hurts, often dating back to childhood, contribute to a range of health issues from depression to cancer. For instance, imagine working for a boss who dismisses your ideas or takes credit for them. This kind of injustice can cause simmering anger. Similarly, a child discovering a parent’s lie, even if well-intentioned, can bury their anger, which may later manifest in behavioral changes.

Unresolved anger can also lead to depression, especially when you feel powerless to address the root cause. By understanding and working with anger through the wisdom of experts like Dr. Emoto, Dr. Maté, Evette Rose, and traditional Chinese medicine, you can transform anger into a catalyst for healing and growth. Embrace emotional awareness and release to foster a deeper connection between your mind, body, and spirit.

To resolve these feelings, it’s essential to express all emotions rather than keeping them bottled up. In my Inner Child Workshop, we use various techniques to release trapped emotions from the past, facilitating healing. I hope this blog was helpful, and I’d love to hear your thoughts on it.
